安吉地处浙江西北部，全县总面积1886平方公里，常住人口46万，辖13个乡镇（开发区），是著名的中国竹乡。安吉位于长三角经济圈的几何中心，是杭州都市经济圈重要的节点县，属于两大经济圈中的紧密型城市。目前与上海、南京和杭州等周边大中城市分别构成了2小时和1小时交通圈。随着杭长高速二期实现全程通车和申嘉湖高速西延工程启动建设，届时将形成“一纵一横”高速公路骨架，构建30分钟到杭湖、90分钟达沪宁的快捷交通网络。商合杭高速铁路过境安吉设站项目正式列入铁道部和浙江省合作协议，将在“十二五”期间启动建设。通杭城际轨道交通项目已纳入浙江省和杭州市“十二五”交通发展规划。

Anji, a county in the northwestern Zhejiang Province, with a land area of 1886 square kilometers and a permanent resident population of 460,000, comprising of 13 towns (development zones), is China’s famous Bambootown. Located in the center of Yangtze River Delta economic circle, Anji is an important Key-Point County of the Hangzhou metropolitan economic circle and is a densely structured city in the two big economic circles. Currently, fast traffic networks have been built between Anji and nearby major cities, such as the two-hour Anji-Shanghai and Anji-Nanjing traffic network, one-hour Anji-Hangzhou network, etc. With the development of Hangzhou two high-speed through traffic and Shenjiahu highway west extension project started construction, in the near future, a “one-vertical and one-horizontal” expressway network will be formed, and a even faster traffic network can be expected, which enables a 30-minute drive to Hangzhou and a 90-minute drive to Shanghai and Ningbo. Moreover, the cooperation agreement for Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou High Speed Railway between Ministry of Railways and Zhejiang Province has formally listed Anji as a stop, the construction of which will be initiated during the 12th Five-Year Plan period. In addition, the Hangzhou-Anji Intercity Light Railway project has been included into the traffic development program of the 12th Five-Year Plan of Hangzhou City and Zhejiang Province.
